As Clinical Director, Jerica takes a strengths-based, person-centered approach built on one core belief: you’re the expert on your own life. Her work draws from CBT, ACT, DBT, mindfulness, Solution-Focused and Narrative therapy, and trauma-informed care, layered with attachment-based and culturally responsive frameworks — but she’ll be the first to tell you it’s never one-size-fits-all.
She’s especially called to walk alongside people through grief, loss, and major life transitions — particularly around reproductive experiences, pregnancy and infant loss, infertility, motherhood, and women’s mental health. “I also love working with the ‘strong ones,'” she says — caregivers, helping professionals, and high-achievers who carry their own struggles quietly while holding everything together for everyone else.
“You don’t have to have it all figured out before you start,” Jerica says. “My style is warm, approachable, and collaborative — I’ll listen with compassion, ask thoughtful questions, and help you find your own resilience, at your own pace.” Faith integration is available if it’s meaningful to you; it’s always client-led.
Jerica became a counselor, she says, because “there is something powerful about having someone walk alongside you during life’s most difficult seasons.” Through her own personal and professional experience with grief and reproductive loss, she found her calling in helping people rediscover their resilience. “I believe everyone deserves a place where they feel seen, valued, and understood.”
She’s also thought a lot about what therapy means here, in Appalachia specifically: “We turn to family, friends, neighbors, and faith communities for support, and those connections are incredibly valuable. Therapy isn’t meant to replace those relationships; it can be another supportive relationship where you have dedicated space to focus on yourself without judgment.”
Returning to KPCC as Clinical Director has been one of the most meaningful chapters of her career. “It has given me the opportunity to support an incredible team of clinicians, contribute to a mission I care deeply about, and help strengthen services for our community. It’s one of those experiences that reminds me why I chose this profession in the first place.”
